While great strides have been made with LGBTQ+ equality in recent years, there is still so much more to be done to improve how these topics are discussed in school. Teaching children about sex education, human relationships and gender identity is vital to creating more accepting and well rounded global citizens. Education plays a fundamental role here and this is an area about which many teachers are passionate.

COP28: The Key Outcomes You Should Know About 22 December 2023 The world's largest annual climate conference of the parties (COP28) was hosted in Dubai this year. COP28 was attended by negotiators from nearly 200 countries. There was a strong emphasis on cutting emissions and increasing financial support to reach the 1.5°C global temperature limit during the conference. It ended with an agreement that signals the "end of the fossil fuel era," underpinned by deep cuts in emissions and increased financing to support a swift, just, and equitable transition. While the UK is making strides in reducing waste, there is a need to focus on utilising materials more efficiently to avoid the build-up of waste to begin with. Without proper planning and waste management solutions construction materials are produced, shipped, transported to site and discarded needlessly, and every step in that process has an energy cost and environmental impact. New data dashboard launched to support tackling violence against woman and girls strategy 1 February 2023 To support the UK Government’s Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategy, as well as many other stakeholders involved in VAWG, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) are developing a new data dashboard. The aim of the dashboard is to bring together relevant data from a variety of sources which, for the first time, allows the evidence base to be visualised in a single, easy-to-access location. Gambling – does Great Britain need a harm prevention levy? 19 January 2023 Among all the demands submitted to the British Government as part of the current review of gambling legislation, the one for a harm prevention levy is often presented as the most straight-forward. The idea of putting the current system of voluntary industry contributions on a statutory and prescriptive basis attracts support from campaigners, the industry regulator, and several of the larger licensees. There is some logic to this as the provision of treatment services for gambling disorder in Great Britain (and likely in most jurisdictions worldwide) needs to be put on a more substantial and sustainable footing. The fastest-growing employee demographics in the UK are women of menopausal age (50-64). Yet, individuals experiencing menopause are suffering from workplace discrimination, leading to a 'brain drain' of women leaving the workforce. Key to addressing this is the need for enhanced protections for individuals experiencing menopausal systems and widespread awareness training. Read article
