The Third Annual Advancing Women in the Workplace

Online Conference 28 June 2023, 9:00am - 3:00pm

Overview

Most organisations in the UK have a long road of improvement ahead before they achieve true gender equality in the workplace. Women aged 16-64 are less likely than men to be in employment across all countries and regions of the UK. Women are also more likely than men to work part-time, with 37.8% of women in employment working part-time at the end of 2022. The gender pay gap also continues to be an undeniable issue in the UK, with women earning 8.3% less in April 2022 and effectively working for free for two months of the year because of the impact of the gender pay gap. These stark differences in employment and pay ranges are likely to exacerbate pre-existing inequalities in economic, cultural, social, and educational areas, especially for those with childcare responsibilities.

Women in work also continue to feel the effects of gender bias, barriers to achieving a healthy work-life balance, and workplace cultures that limit their progression. Recent years have seen important work to improve female representation at the top of organisations, but far more work needs to be done to achieve true gender equality.

The Third Annual Advancing Women in the Workplace conference brings together leaders in the public sector to understand the current landscape of women equalities and inclusion in the UK and set out how organisations can better support women at all stages of their career.

Join us to hear best-practice case studies on women's leadership, examine the specific struggles faced by women in different industries, and understand the meaningful engagement strategies that can improve the experience of women in the workplace.
