Keynote Address: Addressing Fuel And Transport Poverty In The Net Zero Transition

We need to urgently address climate change and undertake an extensive and rapid decarbonization of both energy and transport systems. At the same time, it is widely acknowledged that such a transition should be ‘just’ and avoid worsening inequalities. This raises questions such as: Who may be especially vulnerable in a Net Zero transition? And how can we ensure that low-carbon transitions do not worsen inequalities? This talk builds on the work within the FAIR project which examines the intersections of fuel poverty and transport poverty in the UK, considering the challenges linked to ensuring that low-carbon transitions are beneficial to everyone in society.
