Online Conference 13 June 2024, 9:00am - 4:00pm
What does inclusion really entail?
Establishing a workplace where everyone feels safe, valued, and protected is paramount.
A TUC poll revealed that 1 in 5 workplaces do not have any policies to support LGBT staff, with only 1 in 3 companies with LGBT policies having updated them in the last 12 months. Furthermore, CIPD’s ‘Inclusion at Work’ report uncovered that over 20% of LGBTQIA+ workers experience discrimination in recruitment and promotions, with over a third expressing concerns about potential bias. It is, therefore, imperative to develop legal protections and strategies that provide frameworks for protection of LGBTQIA+ communities in workplaces.
But it should not stop there; inclusive language, culture, workplace practices, and recruitment procedures that demonstrate real commitment and active allyship are necessary to meet the needs of a diverse workforce. All these elements also work collectively towards building an environment that champions equality and celebrates the value of diversity. Inclusion will ultimately unlock the potential of diverse workforce, and inclusive workplaces are workplaces of the future.
The Institute for Government & Public Policy is proud to continue building a reputation for delivering inspirational and empowering diversity, equity, and inclusion conferences and events. The conference will explore priorities for promoting equality and diversity, overcoming discrimination, and how to develop accepting, safe workplaces where everybody can thrive. Feedback from our previous LGBTQA+ conferences include:
"The conference was insightful and provided multiple opportunities for networking, discussion, and further thought"
"Every speaker had lived experience which brought the event to life and gave a real insight into the continuing inequality in society today"
Join us at the Fifth National LGBTQIA+ Inclusion In The Workplace Conference 2024 and explore strategies for supporting LGBTQIA+ people, uncover good practices for tackling harassment and stigma, build awareness, and embrace intersectionality. With the impending General Election, this leading event will give all those present the opportunity to discuss and debate what the impact of the election result will have on this key issue.
