Mike Hurst

MCIOB MSc. BSc(hons) CertEd FHEA

Mike Hurst is a chartered construction manager and member of the Chartered Institute of Builders (MCIOB) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He studied Civil Engineering, followed by a Masters degree in the Conservation of Buildings. He has worked in both private practice and in the public sector for over 25 years in building surveying and consultant engineering disciplines. He has held senior management roles in further and higher education. At UEL, he is senior lecturer in civil engineering, and has been programme leader for both the FdSc Civil Engineering & Construction Management and the BSc (Hons) Construction Management. He is a technical author for Pearson publications and has written a number of construction related textbooks and study guides. He is a member of London Region Construction Training Group Ltd and a Consultant for Heritage Information Ltd. He has held link partner roles for construction related courses within the State Universities of Kazan Russia, and Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. He is currently external examiner for construction management undergraduate courses at Salford University.
