Emma Harewood

NHS England

Emma co-founded The Lighthouse service, which provides safeguarding, advocacy, health, justice and therapeutic support to children and families that experience child sexual abuse. The Lighthouse employs multi-professional team and is led by University College London Hospitals.  The establishment of the Lighthouse followed the 2015 NHS England (London) and the Mayor’s Office for Police and Crime commissioned review of the pathway for child sexual assault in London. This review recommended the first UK pilot of the Barnahus (Child House) model, a model now supported by the Children’s Commissioner for England, Home Secretary and London Mayor.

Emma trained as a paediatric dietitian, before moving into system leadership and change management.  For the last 10 years she has led change in health and social care with a focus on integrated services to support children and adults.  She is passionate about hearing the voice of the child as new services are developed that actually meet their needs, most recently as CSA Transformation Lead in South London where she is working to create an alliance of partners delivery services in line with the Child House model.
