Dr Ben Styles is head of Classroom Practice and Workforce at NFER. He spent the last ten years running large-scale randomised trials of educational interventions. Since the pandemic, he has diverted his attention to measuring recovery in the English education system. This involves a longitudinal study of how quickly the youngest children catch up along with evaluating the National Tutoring Programme.
