Dr Peter William Walsh is a Senior Researcher at The Migration Observatory, University of Oxford. His research focuses on UK immigration policy, on which he has authored more than thirty reports and articles, covering family, student, and illegal immigration, as well as detention, deportation, and asylum. Peter’s doctoral thesis, The Legislature in Immigration Policy-Making: A Liberal Constraint?, examines the role of the national legislature in shaping the immigration law of liberal democratic states. Peter received his BA (Social and Political Sciences), MPhil (Modern Society and Global Transformations), and PhD (Sociology) from the University of Cambridge. His book, From Financial Crisis to Social Change: Towards Alternative Horizons, published by Palgrave Macmillan, is available in paperback.
