Salma Yasmeen is the Chief Executive of Sheffield Health & Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, a role she assumed in July 2023.
A values-driven leader, Salma brings a depth of experience across health and care systems, with a track record of driving transformation, championing innovation and placing people at the heart of change.
Before joining Sheffield, she served as Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Strategy and Change at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, where she played a pivotal role in shaping strategy, system leadership and service transformation.
Salma began her career as a mental health nurse and since then has held a range of leadership roles in the UK and internationally. Prior to joining South West Yorkshire Partnership Trust in 2017, she was the Director of Nursing and Transformation at a large medical city in the Middle East. There, she led major workforce development initiatives and spearheaded a city-wide transformation programme, embedding capability-building and innovation across diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
She also founded and led a pioneering mental health charity, focused on community development approaches and innovative partnerships with ethnically diverse communities, breaking new ground in culturally responsive care.
Salma is deeply committed to tackling inequality and improving lives through public services. She believes in creating systems where every individual can live a safe, connected, meaningful and healthy life.
In addition to her executive role, Salma contributes her expertise as an Advisory Board Member at both Huddersfield University Business School and Thirteen Housing Group, supporting thought leadership and strategic development across education and housing sectors.
Recognised at the UAE Mastermind Global Awards 2025 for being an outstanding CEO in Health & Social Care.
