Overview

How can the NHS modernise its estate to deliver sustainable, resilient and patient-centred healthcare environments while facing rising demand, ageing infrastructure and increasing financial pressures?

Across the UK, NHS estates teams are navigating a period of significant change. With a large proportion of the healthcare estate ageing and the maintenance backlog continuing to grow, there is increasing urgency to modernise hospitals and healthcare facilities. At the same time, the NHS has committed to becoming the world’s first net zero health service, with initiatives such as the NHS Net Zero Building Standard and wider decarbonisation programmes driving major transformation across the estate. Alongside sustainability goals, estates leaders must also address evolving healthcare delivery models, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and support the delivery of high-quality care environments for patients and staff.

The Institute of Government & Public Policy is proud to present The Annual NHS Estates Conference and Exhibition 2027, which is returning to Manchester This event will bring together key stakeholders from across the NHS, government and the healthcare infrastructure sector to share insight, best practice and innovation in the management and transformation of healthcare estates.

Join the Institute for Government & Public Policy at the National NHS Estates Conference and Exhibition 2026 to understand how the NHS can transform its estate into a sustainable, efficient, and digitally enabled foundation for future healthcare delivery.
