The Third Annual Dementia Care Conference 2025

Online Conference 29 January 2025, 9:00am - 4:00pm

CPD accredited by IGPP badge

Overview

Dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK, affecting nearly one million people. Alarmingly, it is estimated that a third of those living with dementia remain undiagnosed, highlighting a significant gap in awareness and early detection. According to research conducted by the Alzheimer's Society, the economic burden of dementia in the UK reaches £42 billion annually, with 63% of these costs borne by those living with the condition and their families.

A report led by University College London and published in The Lancet Public Health suggests that by 2040, up to 1.7 million people could be living with dementia in England and Wales—a figure 40% higher than previous estimates. This sharp rise presents a growing challenge for the social care system, which must adapt to meet the complex needs of an expanding population.

While the development of disease-modifying treatments offers hope for the future, there is an urgent need to address the current demands of those already affected and provide support for those who may not benefit from these new therapies.

The Institute of Government & Public Policy's Third Annual Dementia Care Conference has been built around a whole-system approach to tackling dementia, improving quality of care, quality of life, and end-of-life care, and spreading innovation and best practices. The event will share the latest developments in dementia care and support and examples of best practices from leading organisations across the health and social care sector.

Join us for the Third Annual Dementia Care Conference in 2024, which promises to be an invaluable platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and inspiration in the quest for improved dementia care. The event will bring together leading experts, healthcare professionals, researchers, caregivers, and advocates to explore the latest developments, best practices, and innovations in dementia care. Register your interest today to avoid missing out.
