Martin Gallagher is a former Superintendent with Police Scotland.
Martin’s three decade policing career encompassed periods in both uniform roles and many years as a detective, where he focussed on intelligence activities and the investigation of serious crime. He worked on national crisis events, the G8, the London Olympics, COP26 and the merging of the legacy Scottish police forces. He was Area Commander of Paisley, Scotland’s largest town, and led successful technological change projects. He was also deployed to South East Asia as a leadership mentor.
During his police service Martin received 3 commendations for personal bravery.
Martin holds a PhD in Criminology, Masters Degrees in Terrorism Studies and Criminal Justice Studies, and a Degree in Philosophy. He has over 50 publications, and writes on a variety of topics including terrorism, organised crime, leadership and police technology. He has been a guest speaker at numerous conferences, including on behalf of UNODC and ICCT-The Hague. He is currently writing a book on contemporary terrorism, scheduled for publication in 2024.
Since completing his police career Martin has taken up a position as a Non-Executive Board Member with Disclosure Scotland, and teaches Criminology at a number of Universities.
