The Second Annual Counter-Terrorism Conference 2024

Online Conference 23 January 2024, 9:00am - 3:00pm

CPD accredited by IGPP badge

Overview

The threat of terrorism to the UK persists continuously and is constantly evolving.

According to the Home Office national statistics release, there were 169 arrests associated with terrorism-related incidents in the period ending on March 31, 2023, a decrease of 14% from the previous year. While terrorism-related offences fell, a concerning trend is the rising number of young people arrested for terrorism-related offences in the UK.

To address this evolving threat, the Counter-Terrorism and Sentencing Act 2021 introduced a new terrorism sentence for serious offences and enhanced the existing prevention and investigation measures. This significant transformation aims to ensure the safety and protection of our nation, responding to recent terrorist attacks.

In July 2023, the UK Government published CONTEST, the UK’s Strategy for Countering Terrorism. This strategy is dedicated to reducing the risk of terrorism to the UK, its citizens, and overseas interests.

Join the Institute of Government & Public Policy at the Second Annual Counter Terrorism Conference, which offers crucial updates on the ever-evolving terrorism threat, the latest legislative changes, and strategies for preventing and safeguarding against terrorist attacks.
