After a decade in teaching, Sharron moved to Loughborough University to work as a Disability Adviser from which she progressed to managing the student disability service.  She also specialised in autism transferring to the University of Leicester in 2015 to work as their senior autism specialist.  Sharron is currently a Student Success Officer for Inclusion and Belonging in the new Student Success Centre at Ulster University.

Sharron achieved a PGCert in Asperger syndrome in 2012 and a MA in Education (Autism) in 2018 for which she received the course directors prize for her dissertation on the development of good practice principles to support autistic students to work with their peers.  She is an accredited member of  the National Association of Disability Practitioners (NADP) and an Associate Fellow of the HEA.  She is currently undertaking an EdD examining social support at University for autistic students through the use of inclusive spaces.

As a disabled person Sharron became involved in the disabled staff networks at both Loughborough and Leicester where she was the co-chair for 8 years.  Since moving to work at Ulster she has become the co-chair of the NeuroNetwork where she has sought to use her professional specialism in autism support and her experience of staff networks to build a network of neurodivergent staff and allies with the power to make transformative change across the organisation.
