The Future of Construction Conference 2021

Online Event 27 April 2021, 8:45am - 28 April 2021, 3:45pm

Overview

Construction is one of the largest sectors in the UK economy – with a turnover of £386 billion in 2017, contributing £142 billion in value added to the UK economy and employing 3.2 million people (9% of the total UK workforce).

The industry stands on the verge of a digital transformation, opening a great opportunity to boost productivity and deliver a more sustainable built environment. Technology and innovative use of data has a role to play in almost all aspects of construction and the built environment.

The return of people to work on construction sites during the pandemic further highlighted the health and safety of working conditions. Not only must workers be able to carry out work under standard health and safety regulations, there is the added caveat of following social distancing and hygiene measures — putting an even greater focus on health and safety in the construction industry.

Both the Building and Safety Bill and the Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures during COVID-19 are positive steps for improving conditions within the industry and pivotal if the world of construction is to move forward positively.

As the Government embarks on a strategy to accelerate infrastructure across the UK and promote a green, clean economic recovery as we start to look beyond coronavirus, join us at the Future of Construction event and learn how together we can improve the industry and its social, environmental and economic impact.
