Councillor Simon Myers is the Executive Member for Culture, Arts & Housing at North Yorkshire Council. This includes the Council`s present responsibility, and preparing for Culture, Leisure, Sport and Housing responsibilities. 

Councillor Myers has been part of local plans made by the North Yorkshire Council to significantly develop local housing over the next 30 years. Councillor Myers recently confirmed that the new council will create six new planning committees to oversee decisions across parliamentary constituency areas, such as Harrogate & Knaresborough and Skipton & Ripon.

Councillor Myers was the chairman of Craven District Council until the council was dissolved in 2023 as part of local government reorganisation in North Yorkshire.
