Afternoon Keynote: Overcoming barriers to employment through inclusive recruitment in the Civil Service
  • What kinds of barriers can people face when looking at careers in the Civil Service? How do we identify and overcome these barriers by considering inclusion at each step of the recruitment process? How does outreach into communities increase the diversity of our workforce?
  • In this session, Lisa Jackson from the Going Forward Into Employment Team (Cabinet Office) will share examples of how the Civil Service has sought to open up opportunities to people from different backgrounds who may not have previously considered a career with us
  • This includes suggestions on how to influence and build the capability of Vacancy Managers and HR Teams across a complex, geographically dispersed set of organisations (Departments) to support candidates throughout the start of their careers and beyond
  • We are keen to hear from other organisations in terms of sharing best practice and learning from each other in order to create more inclusive recruitment approaches across the public and private sectors
