Tackling the Challenges of Dementia 2022

Online Conference 13 April 2022, 9:00am - 4:00pm

Overview

There are currently over 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK. It is estimated that by 2025, this figure will be more than 1 million. 1 in 14 people over the age of 60 have dementia, and this figure is constantly rising as people with dementia live longer, year on year. And there currently is no cure.

The cost of treating people with dementia in the NHS and the social care system is £23 billion per year which is more than the cost of cancer, heart disease and strokes. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to extremely high death rates amongst people living with dementia - 25% of all Covid-19 deaths in England and Wales.

This event will provide attendees with an opportunity to hear the latest updates on tackling dementia, and supporting those with the disease, from Government and senior bodies. Hear practical case studies demonstrating innovative solutions for addressing a wide range of key current issues including early diagnosis, person-centred care, technology use, housing design and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hear real-life experiences and the importance of getting an early diagnosis. Hear from leaders in dementia research about the push to find a cure.
