Ali Cooper is the Child Poverty lead in Barnardo’s Policy and Public Affairs Team. Barnardo’s is the UK’s largest national children’s charity and in 2021/22 it reached 357,000 children, young people, parents and carers through its 794 services and partnerships across the UK.

Prior to working at Barnardo’s, Ali worked in policy roles at the Equality and Human Rights Commission and the Government Equalities Office and was a trustee at Macc, the Community and Voluntary Sector support body in Manchester.

At Barnardo’s Ali authored Barnardo’s latest report, “A Crisis on our Doorstep”, which looked at the deepening impact of the cost-of-living crisis on children and young people in the UK.
