Konstantinos Daniel Tsavdaridis is a Professor of Structural Engineering in the Department of Engineering, School of Science and Technology at City, University of London (UK) and is leading the Steel, Steel-Concrete Composite, and Hybrid Structures (aka KDT) group. He is also Visiting Professor of Seismic Structural Design at the International Research Organization for Advanced Science and Technology (IROAST), Kumamoto University, Japan.


His vision of topology, material distribution, and design optimisation of lightweight structures has led to the publication of more than 170 papers in renowned journals, international conferences, and technical magazines. He is also an inventor, and he has filed several GB and PCT patents on steel, composite, and hybrid structural systems.


In 2019, he was awarded the Senior Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering to study and develop novel types of 3D-printed steel connections for steel and timber modular building systems (MBS). Professor Tsavdaridis is the Director of the UK’s 3DMBC, an internationally leading research group that has been established in collaboration with industrial partners, to address challenges in steel and timber modular construction.
