Marianne is Vice Chairman of the Local Government Association and Elected Leader of the LGA Independent Group of over 3000 elected Councillors in England and Wales. She is a North Kesteven District Councillor where she is Leader of the Opposition, and a Lincolnshire County Councillor and Independent Group Leader.
Marianne was first elected as Leader of the LGA Independent Group and Vice Chairman of the Local Government Association in 2011. She has vast experience in local government, leadership and stakeholder engagement. She is also Vice Chair of the Women’s Local Government Society and an influential advocate for women in politics.
Marianne is currently on the Planning Committee for North Kesteven District Council and is a past Chairman. Marianne is particularly active in supporting businesses, environmental and planning issues, health and social care and education. Her last local election vote was among the highest in Lincolnshire and she is well known for her community engagement and determination to represent people directly, regardless of party politics. Her contribution to local government was recognised in 2014 when she was awarded an MBE. Marianne has worked at all levels of local government, in a position of control and in opposition, always as an elected Independent member.
