Debbie has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of East London (UEL) since 2013 and is Course Leader for the ‘National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination’ (NASENCo). As part of this role, she is a member of the NASENCo Provider Partnership which work together to preserve the quality of NASENCo training. At UEL she also teaches across other undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the School of Education and supervises students with their Level 6 and 7 dissertation projects. Debbie’s career in Education began 20 years ago in the role of primary teacher, moving onto Assistant Headteacher and then Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) where she was part of the senior leadership team.
She is currently undertaking some collaborative research with a UEL colleague, focusing on the longer-term impact of Covid-19 on the role of the SENCo.
