Online Conference 26 September 2023, 9:00am - 3:00pm
Suicide is preventable.
According to the Office for National Statistics, 115 people die by suicide in the UK every week, 75% of those deaths being male.
In alignment with the NHS Long Term Plan, the Government has pledged £54 million to suicide prevention, with this investment set to take effect in 2023/24 across the country. This commitment includes supporting local suicide prevention plans and establishing suicide bereavement support services throughout England. On 11th September 2023, the Government announced a new major Suicide Prevention strategy to reduce England’s suicide rate within 2.5 years, focusing on prevention and early intervention.
The Institute of Government & Public Policy is proud to present the Third Annual Suicide Prevention Conference, happening in September. This unmissable event will provide timely insights into the key priorities for the future, including the new major Suicide Prevention Strategy. The conference will explore crucial areas such as reducing access to harmful material online, enhancing sector engagement, improving data and intelligence, and implementing suicide bereavement support services.
Join us at the Third Annual Suicide Prevention Conference 2023 to gain valuable updates on the national suicide prevention strategy, discuss the pressing need for better funding and resources, explore practical strategies for educating the population on suicide prevention, and collaborate with professionals and experts in the field, forming partnerships for collective action.
