David is one of His Majesty’s Inspectors and Specialist Adviser for SEND & AP. He is a qualified teacher and has worked as an Ofsted Inspector. Before working for Ofsted, David gained senior leadership experience as an executive vice principal across 3 alternative provision academies and as an assistant headteacher in a secondary school. David has developed local-authority-affiliated specialist provision for pupils with additional needs and has worked as a specialist leader in education. He holds a Master’s in Education, the National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership and the national SENCo qualification. David has extensive experience of inspecting maintained schools and academies, including primary schools, secondary schools, independent schools, special schools and pupil referral units. David also inspects initial teaching training providers and area SEND.
