Ibtisam Adem is the Acting Head of Casework at CARAS, a refugee organisation based in South London. Ibtisam came to the UK as a refugee from Eritrea in 2002. She has worked as a youth and community worker and advocate for 17 years. 

Ibtisam is a Labour Councillor in the borough of Lambeth and Policy Lead for Sanctuary Services. 

She is also a member of the Migrant Champions Network, a network of local councillors from across the UK - and across different political parties - working together to fight for the rights of all migrants.
