Jon has over twelve years of experience in waste management, working for two London Boroughs on a variety of recycling, waste prevention and waste disposal projects and services. Jon currently works at LB Newham, where he acts as the borough's main representative in the development of partnerships and monitoring of the waste disposal contract for East London. He is also responsible for working with planners, architects and developers on waste management in new developments. Jon manages the Commercial Waste service, providing refuse and recycling collections to a third of the borough's businesses and bringing in £1m income per annum. He has recently taken on the role of head of service, assuming responsibility for quality systems, health and safety, landscape design, greenspace and public realm monitoring.

Jon has particular expertise in waste communications and has delivered campaigns on recycling, incentives, waste prevention and climate change. Jon represents London at WRAP's National Communications Advisory Panel, assisting in the development of the national Love Food Hate Waste, Love Your Clothes and Recycle Now campaigns, and is also a member of the communications consultation group for the Recycle for London campaign.

Jon is a member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management, and has been an active member of that organisation's London & Southern Counties Centre New Generation Group (now New Member Network), is now an elected Centre Councillor.

Jon is Chair of the London Recycling Officers Group (LROG), and regularly represents his organisation at other relevant networks, working groups and panels.
