Cara-Friend stands as Northern Ireland's longest-standing LGBTQIA+ organisation, with roots tracing back to its establishment in 1974. Throughout its history, Cara-Friend has remained steadfast in its dedication to supporting and advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community. In recent years, Cara-Friend has extended its mission by offering training and guidance to businesses through their LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Business Charter initiative.
Leading this endeavor is Jo McParland (she/her), serving as Cara-Friend's Education and Training Manager for the past 8 years. Jo brings a wealth of expertise and passion to her role, holding a background in Psychology and Children's Rights. Her passion lies in empowering those she trains to develop a comprehensive understanding and heightened awareness of the LGBTQIA+ community.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community herself, Jo infuses her training sessions with her personal experiences, knowledge, and expertise, enriching the learning journey for each participant and fostering increased understanding and empathy across the board.
