The Most Important Numbers in the Room Aren’t on the Balance Sheet

Senior women know how to chase numbers: quarterly earnings, market caps, deal sizes, salary increases.

But some of the most important numbers aren’t found in financial reports.

In this deeply personal and data-driven talk, Marysol James shares her journey as a high-achieving professional who survived six years of narcissistic abuse after climbing the career ladder. Blending her own story with cutting-edge UK research, she reveals the numbers that every woman leader needs to know: from the one in two women who experience domestic abuse, to the £14 billion annual cost to UK businesses, to the hidden percentages of senior women who carry trauma into the boardroom.

Far from a private tragedy, domestic abuse is a leadership and business issue. This session explores how coercive control and narcissistic abuse target high-achieving women, how the ripple effects show up in decision-making, productivity, and team culture, and what organisations can do to break the silence.

Participants will leave with:

  • A clear understanding of the statistics behind domestic abuse and narcissistic control in the UK
  • Insight into the unique vulnerabilities of high-achieving women
  • Practical actions leaders and companies can take to support colleagues, protect talent, and change culture

Because the most important numbers in the room aren’t on the balance sheet… they’re the ones that decide whether women can lead, thrive, and stay.
