Gov Facility Services Limited (GFSL) is a not-for-profit, MoJ-owned company delivering facilities management to prisons across southern England on behalf of HMPPS. A demanding, safety-critical environment where around 1,200 frontline people keep the estate running, and where innovation has to earn its keep. In this session, CEO Alistair Watters shares three projects that show what a lean, in-house team can achieve: HIVE, the Power BI reporting portal that won a 2025 IWFM Impact Award for supporting prison capacity, giving HMPPS an accurate daily view of cell availability; CRED (Clean, Rehabilitative, Enabling and Decent), a 2025 IWFM Impact Awards finalist, which puts serving prisoners into skilled trade work and onward employment; and a pioneering counter-drone security collaboration delivered at pace.
