The opening keynote address will discuss policy surrounding mental health services and how they can be improved to offer greater support. A key topic will be preventing excess male deaths and harm related to mental health.
This session will discuss the factors such as wealth, sexuality and living situation all affect mental health. It will particularly focus on society and its effects on specific demographics and demonstrating how to provide support to these vulnerable groups and recognising our own biases towards them.
This session will focus on removing the stigma of mental health and remodelling mental health and support services to be relevant for the Black community.
This will be an academic perspective delving into research into a specific mental health issue (such as anorexia or bulimia) and the importance of validating their experience particularly given the additional stigma of a mental health issue that is not associated with their gender.
This case study will explain the importance of an accepting and safe workplace that facilitates discussion of mental health within its employees, particularly encouraging male employees to share. It will address the stigma of expressing emotions which has been reinforced by toxic masculinity culture.
This case study will highlight the importance of overcoming mental health stigma within young men and why they are a particular important demographic to target.
This closing keynote address will address the future of men's mental health, highlighting overlooked areas and the needed changes to provision. It will look at mental health inequalities, stigmas and stereotypes and suggest recommendations to overcome them.
