Online Event 27 July 2021, 9:00am - 4:00pm
People are living longer than ever before and the age profile of our society is changing rapidly. According to the Office for National Statistics, there are nearly 12 million people aged 65 and above in the UK and in 50 years, there are projected to be an additional 8.6 million. By 2030, one in five people in the UK will be aged 65 or over.
The fastest-growing age group is 85+, which is set to double to 3.2 million by mid-2041. These changes have major implications for service delivery to cater to older people’s future needs in terms of housing, finances, health and social care.
Without fundamental changes in society, inequalities in financial and health outcomes will widen for older people.
This timely event will address the key challenges that are facing professionals within the health, social care and voluntary sectors in addressing the changing needs of an ageing population. It examines how innovation in consumer products and services for older people can meet the needs of an ageing society.
Attendees will hear both high-level keynotes and practical case studies exploring changing approaches to work, finances, healthcare and housing and how to develop effective interventions to ensure that the next generation of older people reap the benefits of longer, healthier and happier lives.
