Online Conference 16 May 2023, 9:00am - 3:00pm
Kerry has worked in Adult Community Psychological Services for over 20 years, and increasingly became aware of the impact of trauma on individuals, organisations and the local community. Trauma, in its myriad of forms, affects lives, increases vulnerability and requires safe, attuned support and interventions. She is passionate about embracing community-facing initiatives, in which psychological thinking embeds across the whole system. She also committed to championing the wealth of community assets that she is fortunate to work with in South East Essex, seeking ways of working together as a collective. By harnessing assets and knowledge alongside scaffolding learning opportunities all services can work together more safely, developing trauma informed practices in line with needs led nuanced community offer.
Psychological models maintain the foundation of her work. Kerry mostly adopts schema therapy and narrative approaches throughout clinical practice, training and leadership in the South East Essex Trauma Alliance. These models are adapted to infuse trauma informed thinking and practice, underpinning and strengthening community transformation.
