Online Conference 16 May 2023, 9:00am - 3:00pm
Published in 2022, the ‘Women’s Health Strategy’ set out a 10-year plan for addressing the needs and disparities found in England’s healthcare system. After collecting almost 100,000 responses from women to identify the most impactful experiences and issues as service users. Whilst this strategy will be implemented across the next decade there has been recent news regarding declining maternity experience quality according to the CQC, and increasing waiting times for gynaecology units over the last decade.
The Centre for Ageing Better has shown that women on average spend more than a quarter of their lives with a disabling illness; with a disparity of 16 healthy years between women in different geographic and economic regions. The disparity across the gender spectrum and within women’s health in general show the need for an intersectional and equitable approach to improve outcomes for all.
This event will focus on the issues surrounding data and research for women’s health, best practice to improve inclusivity within the healthcare sector, and share stories of the experience of women when accessing these services. Improving the Health and Wellbeing of Women will bring together key organisations, academics, and government bodies in providing a vital opportunity to discuss the issues facing women’s health. It will examine current and future policy surrounding women’s health, and the inequalities within it, and evaluate the future for female health and wellbeing.
