Simon joined Liverpool City Council in August 2022 with a 34 year track record in delivering Environmental Protection, Compliance and Carbon Management for Jaguar Land Rover, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Environment Agency. Simon delivered the first blueprint for net zero motor manufacture by designing an approach adopted by all Jaguar Land Rover plants, sealing Net Zero 2030 for Halewood with a hydrogen partnership. Simon also devised an integrated Environmental Management System at JLR to identify and mitigate the extreme risks of chemical hazards, massive energy use and emissions and impact. At Merseyside Fire& Rescue Services, Simon delivered a 23% reduction of CO2 emissions in collaboration with NW Fire Services from 2009 - 2015. 

Simon has also spent 11 years in various Environment Agency locations, initially starting in Environment Protection (Waste industry regulation and water pollution) and Enforcement (significant Waste Crime), before moving onto Internal Environmental Management, energy reduction and carbon management.
