Sarah is currently Head of Academic Skills at New Model Institute for Technology & Engineering (NMITE) in Hereford, a new HEI with diversity at its heart. She leads on the mathematics pedagogy for the degree programmes and on widening participation. Sarah’s background is mathematics, including teaching qualifications, with an engineering PhD in the application of AI and reliability tools to the maintenance of structures. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Innovation & Knowledge Exchange (IKE), advisor to IKE’s STEM Foundation and has expertise in skills for innovation, STEM, and diversity for the engineering and tech sectors. Sarah has over 30 years of engineering education experience at multiple levels and has championed gender equality in STEM since 1992. She is an activist with the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) and was INWES Deputy President 2018-2020.
