Sundus has over 20 years working in primary care as a medicines optimisation pharmacist working with GP practices, care homes and other providers. As a non-medical Independent Prescriber, Sundus specialised in frailty and care of the elderly working mostly with care home patients. She has led on QI projects including a project promoting safer and appropriate use of anti-psychotics in dementia and also led on the ‘Good hydration in care homes’ project which received national recognition and later developed into a national hydration in care homes toolkit. As a NICE Medicines and Prescribing Associate, Sundus promotes the implementation of evidence-based practice and guidelines. Her professional and research interests include medicines optimisation in care homes, frailty, polypharmacy, Quality Improvement, medicines safety and person-centred care. She also has other roles including external research supervisor with the University of Reading as well as training and education roles with CPPE, PrescQIPP and Oxford AHSN. |
