The Future of an Ageing Population

Improving Care and Support for Older People

Online Conference 9 May 2023, 9:00am - 3:00pm

Overview

The UK has an ageing population with over 11 million people aged 65 and over. Age UK’s recent report on Loneliness and COVID-19 revealed that 1.4 million older people in the UK suffer from loneliness.

The recent climate of increasing cost of living and the COVID-19 pandemic, highlights the frailty and challenges older populations face. During the pandemic, older people had an increased risk of contracting COVID-19, suffering worse outcomes and experiencing tougher access to healthcare. With the move to a more digital way of healthcare across the UK, this demographic has suffered from exclusion and limited access to specialist care putting them at increased risk.

The current cost of living crisis highlighted the vulnerability of older people, where most are heavily reliant on their pensions to sustain themselves. As a consequence of price increases, Age UK found that 2.5 million older people have reported skipping meals to cope with this. This will exacerbate the vulnerability of older populations, especially in a post-COVID-19 climate. It is crucial to understand and raise awareness of the best ways to care for older people during these difficult times.

The Future of an Ageing Population: Improving Care for Older People will enable you to gain a greater understanding of the challenges facing caring for the older population, strategies for promoting healthy ageing and chronic disease management, and innovative approaches to elderly care delivery.

Join us at The Future of an Ageing Population conference, to hear about the latest development in older people care and support, and learn about best practices and emerging trends in elderly care. This event provides an opportunity for networking and collaboration amongst healthcare professionals, care givers, and policy makers, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of care for older people and enhancing their overall quality of life.
