Following his service in the Royal Navy as an Engineer, Steve began his second career in occupational health and safety, around the time the framework for risk assessment and health and safety management was introduced in the UK. He has held various positions in health and safety management in public and private sectors, and lectured extensively across all industries. His health and safety work experience includes the offshore sector, utilities, healthcare, local government, charities, and a variety of SME. Steve develops and applies feasible and realistic solutions for both large and small organisations, taking health and safety into the boardroom and integrating risk management, business continuity, corporate governance, and social responsibility. Steve is a past President of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health and the author of an EU Commission report on competency framework for health and safety professionals.
