Emma began her career in 2003 as an English teacher at Parrs Wood High School, serving as Head of House and Assistant Head of English. In 2009, she moved to Whalley Range High School as Head of English, later becoming Assistant Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher. Emma moved to Lymm High School as Deputy Headteacher in 2017 and then in 2019 was appointed Headteacher at Birchwood Community High School. Emma has also served as a Specialist Leader of Education, delivered at numerous National Leadership Conferences and holds a MA in Educational Leadership, the NPQH and NPQEL.
Emma is Director of Education with One Community Trust, driving school improvement strategy and directly ensuring and supporting standards in a group of 7 primary schools. Her work also includes promoting staff and student wellbeing and facilitating leadership coaching and development.
Emma is a Director of The Brianna Ghey Legacy Project and campaigns for social reform around young people’s mental health, specifically around smartphone use and social media. She founded the Disconnect 2 Reconnect campaign to bring in free parental control apps for all Warrington families, she is an Schools Ambassador for Smartphone Free Childhood, and is part of the Phone Free Education movement
