Carl Petrokofsky is a Consultant in Public Health with the UK Health Security Agency working in the Extreme Events and Health Protection Team. The Team works to improve the UK’s strategic and emergency response capability to extreme weather events to prevent ill health; protect lives; and build resilience to future events. It is responsible for a range of plans and guidance to support these activities, for example the Heatwave and Cold Weather Plans for England. Previously, he developed the ‘Healthy Places’ programme for Public Health England focusing on how spatial planning of the built and natural environment can promote better health and wellbeing. He is the Visiting Professor in the WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Urban Environments, University of West England.
