Matthew Lumsden

Connected Energy

Matthew has been working in the renewable energy and clean tech sector since 2000 when he joined energy consultancy TNEI and led its growth until exiting on a trade sale in 2010.

In 2009 Matthew formed Future Transport Systems to deliver electric vehicle related consultancy and R&D, ultimately delivering several major EV trials, charging infrastructure roll outs, V2G trials and strategies for major industry players.

Matthew spun out Connected Energy to commercialise R&D into stationary energy storage systems that utilise 2nd life electric vehicle batteries. Since then, he has focussed on developing a business that joins the worlds of energy storage, electric vehicles and the circular economy, leading a team working on unique and world leading technologies and business models.

In recognition of the potential Connected Energy has to capitalise on new markets, Matthew secured strategic investors, Macquarie, Engie New Ventures and Sumitomo Corporation to help scale up the business. Several of Connected Energy’s E-STOR systems are now in operation in the UK and Europe.
