Chris is the Interim National Police Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and leads the Cyber Services Team, which provides a range of assurance and cyber security operational functions to police forces and national police systems. He also coordinates and informs all areas of information assurance, cyber activity, and policy across the policing community, increasing awareness on the various threats faced by the sector and supporting a variety of security teams to deliver local improvements.
Chris joined the Police Digital Service (PDS) in January 2022 as the Head of Audit Risk and Compliance and was responsible for the overhaul of policing assurance and risk reporting prior to taking over the Interim CISO role in April 2025. Previously Chris was a commissioned RAF Provost Officer, delivering a range of policing and security effects (including cyber security) globally before working in the Civil Nuclear Sector as a cyber security consultant and CISO. Prior to joining PDS, Chris worked at the Home Office. As Head of the Cyber Security Assurance Service, he helped to establish the Home Office’s Cyber Security capability and held the role of Interim CISO for that organisation before moving to PDS.
Chris has over 25 years of experience in a variety of security roles, the vast majority within the public sector, and is currently studying security risk management as a doctoral student at the University of Portsmouth.
