Online Conference 15 June 2023, 9:00am - 3:00pm
Are you aware of the employment gap facing many autistic people today?
In April 2023, the Government launched a new review designed to boost the employment prospects of autistic people t to spread opportunity, close the employment gap and grow the economy. The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Mel Stride MP, has appointed Sir Robert Buckland KC MP to lead the review, which will consider how the Government can work with employers to help more autistic people realise their potential and get into work. Recent data from Ambitious About Autism reveals that only 1 in 3 autistic individuals are employed, either full-time or part-time. This gap is further supported by the Office for National Statistics' Outcomes for Disabled People report. Other statistics provide insights into the wellbeing of autistic adults who, compared to their peers, have reported higher anxiety levels.
The UK government's National Strategy for Autistic Children, Young People, and Adults aims to support more autistic people into employment, tackle health and care inequalities, and focus on transitioning young people with autism into adulthood. Supported by £75 million in the last year, this funding was split across all sectors, including £40 million through the NHS Long Term Plan.
Join us at the Creating Inclusive Cultures for Autistic People conference, where we will focus on the transition to adulthood and employment for individuals with autism. Discover opportunities to remove discrimination and support autistic individuals to thrive in society and have better access to the help they require. Let's work together to create a more inclusive and supportive society for all individuals, including those on the autism spectrum. Register now to be a part of this important conversation!
