Online Conference 23 March 2023, 9:00am - 3:00pm
The public sector is estimated to lose between £29-£52 billion to fraud activity including false grants, manufacturer overpayments, and fraudulent claims according to the Fraud Landscape Bulletin. Within the NHS alone, the organisation is vulnerable to £1.198 billion per year (NHS Counter Fraud Authority). Fraud and error loss can result in increasing public service costs and reduced government efficiency, which in turn can impact taxpayers and citizens in an already tumultuous time.
The Public Sector Fraud Authority was launched in August 2022, targeting £180 million within its first 12 months of operation. Primarily focused on national ministerial departments and public bodies, practices and standards are expected to be shared in line with the mandate announced in September 2022.
Prevention was noted as a key priority for local governments in this CIPFA report, with aims to reduce the opportunity for financial crime to occur and combined with strong governance and long-term planning. This event will cover both solutions for both prevention and post-fraud action to share knowledge and enable further action to reduce fraud locally and nationally in the public sector.
You'll gain actionable insights on methods to improve investigative approaches and purposeful integration of technology into the fraud detection environment. This conference will provide a concise overview of current challenges, with access to leading experts and cutting-edge case studies. You will be kept up to date on the latest industry trends thanks to keynote addresses from senior government and industry officials.
