Online Conference 12 December 2023, 9:00am - 3:00pm
82% of UK builders experience mental health problems due to work-related issues after research with UK tradespeople in a 2023 report. Unfortunately, two workers take their own lives every working day in the industry. With large workloads and long working hours on top of financial precarity in the cost-of-living crisis, stress at work can result in many construction workers struggling with their mental health. Not only this, but engineers and architects struggle with similar concerns - faced with pressure to work on 'impossible' projects, unhealthy work-life balances, and resource cuts - that result in mental health problems across careers.
The stigma surrounding mental health and well-being exacerbates this issue further, with 92% uncomfortable talking about their mental health with others. Research by the Institute of Government & Public Policy found that 75% of people surveyed believed there is insufficient capacity for the construction industry to support diverse workforces.
The Fourth Annual Mental Health in Construction will focus on areas to improve and prevent mental health crises, including how managers can identify and support those in need, the impact physical health can have on mental health, outsourcing, and the mental health impact of virtual and hybrid work.
Join us for the Fourth Annual Mental Health in Construction event as we look into ways to support and prevent mental health concerns for all industry members across various trades and organisational structures!
