Online Conference 17 April 2024, 9:00am - 4:00pm
Are you aware of the employment gap facing many autistic people today?
According to published data from the National Autistic Society, 77% of unemployed autistic people want to work. In addition, 45% of neurodivergent individuals have left or lost their jobs because of difficulties arising from misinterpretation. Under the Equality Act 2010, employers must provide reasonable accommodations for their neurodivergent workers. The 2021-26 autism strategy outlines the government’s commitment to enhancing support for autistic individuals in the workforce by 2026. This will be achieved by improving employer awareness of autism, improving the accessibility of employment programmes and making Jobcentres more autism inclusive. Furthermore, the Department of Work and Pensions initiated a comprehensive review in April 2023 to elevate employment prospects for autistic individuals.
The Institute of Government & Public Policy’s Second Annual Autism at Work Conference 2024 has been designed around the current workforce challenges those with autism face. This conference will provide a comprehensive and informative platform for employers, employees, advocates, and experts to collaborate and advance the goals of workplace inclusivity for individuals with autism.
Join us for The Second Annual Autism at Work Conference 2024, which will explore an overview of the current challenges faced by individuals across the workforce, providing opportunities for employers to reflect on their current workplaces, and empower attendees to make change and support new and existing colleagues by removing discrimination and create a more inclusive society.
