Gill Dix has a background in public policy and social research working in the voluntary and public sectors, and academia. She began her career working in community engagement undertaking research, advocacy and development work in inner city housing estates. She was a Research Fellow at the Social Policy Research Unit at the University of York where the focus of her studies was the administration of social security benefits, and the assessment of needs of low income households. Gill joined Acas in 1995 as a social researcher and was Acas’ Head of Research for 15 years, moving on to become Head of Workplace Policy where she manages a team of policy analysts and writers. Gill has particular interests in workplace conflict, voice and well being well as wider questions relating to decision making in public services. She has authored many research reports, papers and book chapters relating to workplace relations, and wider public and social policy matters. Gill is an active contributor to prestigious Workplace Employment Relations Survey series. She sits on a number of academic advisory boards, and is the disability champion for the leadership team in Acas.
