Speakers:
The conversation around technology and artificial intelligence is often dominated by fears of automation and displacement. Yet history shows that technology's greatest contribution is not replacing people but amplifying human potential.
Drawing on practical examples from Energy Garden's work across London, this keynote explores how community energy, digital tools, data, biodiversity monitoring and civic participation can be combined to create "socially smart cities" – places where technology helps people become active participants in the net zero transition rather than passive recipients of it.
From community-owned solar on railway infrastructure to neighbourhood-scale climate action programmes, the session will examine how public sector organisations can harness technology to build trust, accelerate delivery and create lasting social, environmental and economic value.
