Steve Markham, born and bred in West Bromwich, was inspired by his father and grandfather to become an engineer. He took an apprenticeship in Mechanical & Production Engineering with Avery’s and earned his first appointment there. Since then, he has worked in many West Midlands businesses before moving to Newcastle upon Tyne in 2005. He started his own business STM Quality Limited shortly after, where he continues to help businesses implement and maintain management systems for quality such as ISO 9001, automotive quality IATF16949, environment 14001, energy 50001 and health & safety 45001. He is a keen and active STEM Ambassador, winning the Inspirational STEM Employer award in 2020 from STEM Learning UK. He lives with his partner Michelle and enjoys gardening and spending time in the kitchen.
