Clare Fernandes is the BBC’s Chief Medical Officer. Clare qualified as a doctor from The Royal Free and University College Medical School in 2008, and is an Accredited Specialist in Occupational Medicine.
Occupational medicine deals with the health of the workforce; specifically, how to keep individuals physically and mentally well at work. This comprises assessing work environments, and assessing how an individual’s overall health affects their ability to work safely.
Clare’s role revolves around leading the Health Team, and working alongside colleagues in Safety and HR to deliver the BBC’s wellbeing strategy, assuring the BBC’s health services, assessing and advising on workplace health risks and mitigation.
